Treating Speech and Language Disorders
Speech-Language Pathologists at Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center treat patients with disorders of speech, voice, language, cognition, memory and swallowing.
Our Speech-Language Pathologists have obtained either a Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited program and completed a post graduate Clinical Fellowship. In addition, they have passed a national examination to obtain their professional credential called the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). They also maintain their license to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the State of Nevada by completing the required continuing education annually and observing appropriate standard of professional conduct.
Speech-Language Pathologists at Desert Springs Hospita provide a full range of evaluative, preventive, and rehabilitative services to those with communication and swallowing disorders. Some services they provide include the use of VitalStim neuromuscular stimulation modality to treat swallowing disorders. They also complete instrumental examination of the swallowing function if needed, including Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).
